Early Ethereum designer to host DeFi Whiteboarding Weekend in the Bay Area |

by Serge Shlykov

Jacques Dafflon, a Swiss-based developer whose early work included an Ethereum command line tool and a JavaScript library, has organized a special meetup for the Bay Area-based community members and newcomers to discuss design patterns for a range of proposed DeFi (Decentralized Finance) protocols. The event will take place on January 26 at the Impact Hub in San Francisco’s SOMA district. Booked the entire space for the day, with lunch and dinner included to make sure we don’t get interrupted or lose track of time.

For those who are not aware, the Ethereum network is the largest decentralized computing platform that powers the ideas behind decentralized finance, or DeFi, and along with it, the concept of an open financial system. The platform also holds the second largest coin market capitalization in the crypto space, and some of the largest projects and ICOs have been built on top of the network. Today, we caught up with Ethereum’s early developer, Vitalik Buterin, who shared some of the ideas that he is currently working on. First, on the subject of DeFi, Buterin stated: “I think that many of the projects in the space, especially the Ethereum based ones, will see significant improvements in their user base and

DeFi Whiteboarding Weekend is a project of the Decentralized Finance (DeFi) Working Group, which was created last year to focus on the Ethereum-based tokenization ecosystem. The DeFi Working Group is led by Josh Stark, one of the co-founders of Oasis Labs, and the founder of several crypto projects based on Ethereum. This time, Stark plans to host a series of events in the San Francisco Bay Area on July 20-23, during the Token Summit conference. The goal of the event is to present the design and operational procedures of a decentralized finance platform. The events will be held in a “whiteboarding” format.  This means that the participants will work with

A new Defi Discussions Whiteboarding weekend takes place in the Bay Area, with some of the biggest names in the DeFi scene in the region on board. The event, organized by Rick Burton, one of the original developers of Ethereum, will take place on the weekend of the 5th. The month of June will take place. The event, which is expected to be attended by around 100 people, will also take place online, but there is much excitement about the possibility of meeting people in real life. Burton said What’s interesting is that people who are normally completely focused on their work come out of their shells to socialize. We hope this will bring new energy to the community. Bitcoin 2021, another major crypto event featuring Jack Dorsey and Ron Paul, will also be held in Miami. Whiteboarding offers a unique experience tomembers.

Defi Discussions’ Whiteboarding weekend does not follow the speaker-driven format typical of technology conferences. Rather, the goal is to bring people from the DeFi community together to work out ideas. Burton explained: The goal is to create a comfortable environment where participants can write on the board and share their ideas with others. This is not a smart presentation. Rather, it is a shared experience. What we learned personally and an attempt to reach out to the online community. Burton believes this format is unique because it shows you how the human brain really works instead of a slick, rehearsed presentation. To get the board off the ground, DeFi founders, operators, engineers and others are invited to the event to share their ideas about the beeping screen. Speakers include Varun Kumar of Hashflow Network, Jenn Kalidoss, former security engineer at Bitski, the Futureswap team and Alexis Gauba of Opyn. Guests will have experience building DeFi projects and will cover topics such as getting started with DeFi, policies and protocols, and sending smart contracts.

Hundreds of people are expected to attend the event over the two days

Although the event hopes to focus on the in-person option, Burton expects hundreds more to participate online. This should be a unique opportunity for those who are new to DeFi or don’t live in the Bay Area. The event will take place from the 5th to the 6th. June is 4 hours a day and it should be exciting. Those wishing to participate in the event can register on the event website.
